We're going on a trip into space!

This term our topic is about the sun, moon and stars.  We are going to go on a mission to find out as much as we can about space.  Mrs Muir is the space captain and we are all the crew.  There are lots of preparations to do before we are ready to blast off!

The first job we had to do was to come up with a name for our space ship.  We worked in groups to come up with four suggestions, and then we put everyone's ideas together and voted for the one we liked best.  The winning suggestion was Jocam 2000.

Once we had a name for our space ship, we had to design identification badges for us to wear.

We had to work out what jobs everyone would be best at.

To find out if we would make a good engineer, we had to build a space station out of Lego.

To find out if we would make a good science officer we had to look at lots of pictures of plants and animals and write down what we thought they were.

To find out if we would make a good navigator, we had to find our way through a selection of maze puzzles.

To find out if we would make a good communicator, we had to practise reading and saying tongue twisters.

So, we had a name for our space ship, and the crew all had jobs to do, but we had nothing to get there in, so our next job was to make model space ships.

READY FOR LIFT OFF!

Here we are with our finished models.
