Our visit to Walliwall Ltd

On Wednesday the 2nd March we went on a visit to Walliwall Ltd to learn about the story of milk.

Cathleen was a fantastic host and did a great job of showing us around and explaining everything to us.

We each got a little bottle with cream in which we had to shake to get it to turn into butter.

We saw all the tanks and machines that are used in getting the milk ready to deliver to the shops.

We all thought it was a really interesting visit.

Art

We have been making wild animal masks in Art with Mrs Firth.

First we had to draw the outline, cut it out and paint it using orange and black paint. We then cut out pieces of white paper and very carefully stuck them down to make whiskers and fur. We also used fine black pens and other colours of paint to add more detail. This was quite tricky and we had to concentrate very hard.

Do you know who is hiding behind this one?

Tooth Brushing

This term for our Health & Wellbeing topic we have been learning about good hygeine. Last week we had a visit from the oral health visitor. She talked to us about how important it is to look after our teeth. We learned that we should brush our teeth at least twice a day for two minutes each time. We practised brushing the teeth of some stuffed toys to make sure we knew how to do it properly.

Then we talked about the types of foods and drinks we should try to have and the ones that have too much sugar in them.  Fizzy juice, chocoalte and other sugary snacks can damage our teeth so we should try to have these only on special occasions.

We then drew some pictures of 'big cheesy grins' which Claire took away with her to put up on the walls in the dentist's surgery at Kings Street. When she left we all got some toothbrushes, toothpaste and a timer to take home with us.  We promised we would keep looking after our teeth and going to the dentist for regular check ups too.

World Book Day - Thursday 3rd March

WHERE'S WALLY?

We have been celebrating World Book Day in Class 2. We love reading the Where's Wally? books by Martin Hanford. There's always BIG competition to find him before anyone else does! We have been doing lots of fun Where's Wally? activities this week.

The search is on!...........

We had a race to find Wally in 2 huge posters.  Only 2 teams managed to find both Wally's within the 5 minute time limit. The winning time was 2 minutes and forty one seconds! some of us are still looking.....

We had a Wally Wordathon - with our partners we had 5 minutes to write a list of as many words beginning with 'W' as we could think of. Altogether the class managed to write down 54 different words.

We worked in pairs to make our own Class 2 Where's Wally? book. We came up with ideas for different Where's Wally? scenes: Wally goes to Hongkong, Wally under the Sea, Wally goes swimming, Wally in Space, Army Wally, Wally in the Desert, Wally at the beach, Wally at the Zoo and Wally Aboard.

We took Wally to gym and tried to pin his glasses and hat on him while blindfolded. It was quite tricky and some of us had more luck than others!

Show and Share next week

We would love the children to make an object/character from fruit and vegetables and bring these along to share with the class

Sharing our books

We went to Class 4/5 this afternoon to show them our 'Story of Wool' books.

Working Together

Miss Dennison came into our class today, and gave us a challenge.

We had to work in groups, and each member of the group was given one or more pieces of a picture to put together.

However, there were some rules:  we had to give one of our pieces to someone else in the group;  we were not allowed to talk or use any actions.

It was not as easy as we thought it was going to be.
